I found this lovely black and white transferware plate at a market in Brugge, my all-time favorite town in Belgium.
The hunting scene is captioned by “un lapin dans un arbre” (a rabbit in a tree). The rim has a lovely pattern of dogs interspersed with ornate scrolls and masks.
There are no chips or cracks in this plate and the back has a lovely mark by Boch Frères Keramis, dating it to the late 1800s. There are some dark smudges under the glaze on the right side so not the cleanest transfer in that section.
SIZE: 8.25″ diameter
MARKED: Boch Frères Kermis
