SUZE corkscrew (France)

I picked up this small corkscrew at an estate sale of a dear friend and artist who spent many summers in France trolling through various flea markets in search of small treasures to include in her collages.

This wood corkscrew has the SUZE logo carved on both sides. Suze is a French brand of apéritif that is normally served straight up or with orange juice. Pubs and bistros would often have various promotional items in use like pitchers, ashtrays, glasses, etc.

There are some small nicks in the wood on one side and the metal of the screw has some rust spots. Overall the wood handle shows signs of wear, all consistent with years of use and in no way impairing its function.

SIZE: handle 3″ long x 0.75″ diameter at its thickest; metal part 2.625″ long
