This lovely lidded pot was once used to make paté – the little knob in the lid has a hole in it to let out steam.
Found in France, it shows the traditional brown and butter yellow color scheme. It has two devil’s heads/laughing heads on either side.
A bit more unusual, this particular pot also has two crests on the side, presumably the logo of the manufacturer of this paté. The mark on the bottom shows the information of the manufacturer:
Robert Berst & Vie
7, Rue des Frères, Strasbourg (France) Tel. 2227
Fabrique de Pâtés de Foies Gras
This one is in great shape with just some small chips along the rim and one on the base (see photos).
Would be great to use in the kitchen for its original purpose or to store salt, corral rubber bands, or use for paper clips in your office.
