These types of old agricultural prize plaques are beautiful for many reasons – the patina is lovely, the border details are gorgeous, the typography is charming…
This particular piece came from France. It’s a 6th prize award from July 14, 1929 of an agricultural show in the region of Sameon, right by the Belgian border. The best I can discern, the prize is for some sort of mounted horse exercise.
The background of the plaque is a lovely rich red color with lettering in a dulled gold. There is a hook at the top for hanging.
SIZE: nearly 8.5” x nearly 5”
