This particular piece came from France. It’s a first place prize award from 1952 of an agricultural school in Paris (PARIS!). The prize category is for the somewhat rare breed of Nivernais draft horse.
The background of the plaque was originally green but over time has nearly completely faded away to reveal the grey metal. The top of the plaque still has a few bits of gold. There are two curved hooks at the top for hanging although they likely originally did not look like that (see photos).
